  3. Welcome to XMLwriter 1.0 Beta, brought to you by Wattle Software!

  5. 1. Description
  6.  
  7. XMLwriter is a professional validating XML/HTML editor for Windows. 
  8.  
  9. XMLwriter can validate XML documents against a DTD or Schema and convert files using XSL.
  10. XMLwriter has a text editing interface, with the convenience of real-time colour syntax 
  11. highlighting of tags and keywords. XMLwriter supports all text file types, including XML,
  12. XSL, DTD, HTML and CSS.

  14. Batch document validation or stylesheet conversion is also available. XMLwriter has an
  15. internal browser you can use to preview your documents, or you can configure your preferred
  16. external browser.

  18. XMLwriter is written entirely in C++, which makes it a fast and efficient editor compared
  19. to existing Java-based editors.

  21. 2. System Requirements
  22.  
  23. * A computer running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000
  24. * Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 or later installed. (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0
  25.   or later is highly recommended.)
  26. * Approximately 2MB of free hard disk space.

  28. 3. Installation Notes

  30. You can always find the latest version of XMLwriter at http://www.XMLwriter.net/
  31.  
  32. There are two downloadable versions of XMLwriter, one for users with Internet Explorer 5.0 or
  33. higher installed, and one for users with Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 or higher installed. Once
  34. you have downloaded the appropriate file, unzip it to a temporary folder and run setup.exe.
  35. Follow the on-screen prompts to install XMLwriter.

  39. Currently there are no known issues.

  43. This is a Beta release product. While we have made every effort to ensure that there are no
  44. known bugs, there is the chance that some have slipped through our rigorous testing regime.
